My First Quilt
Going out on a limb
I have done small projects with normal square quilting, (which is of course lovely! such as the pillow above from home ec. class) but for my first full quilt, I wanted something a little less simple, a little more versatile. I decided to go with a simple herringbone pattern (this one made with half squares), inspired by the Crafty Blossom blog! (craftyblossom.blogspot.com, well worth visiting!). I like the solids for the front with patterns on the back like she uses.
I chose electric green (green is my favorite color) and a slate gray for my quilt face. Today being the day after Christmas and with the snow storm we have going on outside, I had a lot of time to work on this. Today I got 64 squares done, and found that I needed to buy more fabric to finish my squares with.
My method was to put a green and gray square on top of one another (right sides together), cut diagonally in half, pin, and sew.
This is my progress so far, which I am very proud of! I will keep you posted as I get closer to a completed quilt! I would love to hear any tips or comments anyone has! Thanks for visiting!
